First Sunday in Advent

INTROIT – ‘Father we Love You’ SoF 102

We offer you a very warm welcome especially if you are a visitor or will be joining us through the Recording Ministry and to Revd Ken Chalmers who is leading our worship this morning.

Refreshments will be served in the Garling Room after the service.

Recording Ministry – If you do not already receive a DVD of our services please speak to one of the stewards to obtain a copy.

Please pray for our Ministers Revd Ken Chalmers and Revd Alan Jenkins and all those who minister to the people of God.

Continue to pray for all others who are in any way troubled, lonely, unwell or bereaved and anyone else who needs our prayers.

General Notices

Coffee Morning on Saturday 5th December. The Bring and Buy this month will be for the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and there will be mince pies as well as a chance to choose your favourite Christmas Carol. Why not bring a friend or two with you.

Christmas at Lexden please remember to pick up a leaflet showing all the extra services we are holding here in the lead up to Christmas.

Beacon House – we are collecting throughout November. They would love clothing, toiletries and food as well as items listed on the sign by the box in the vestibule which is there for your donations.

Stamps – during December we will be collecting stamps. This is the time of the year when you will be receiving more post than normal so please carefully cut round the stamps and add them to the box in the vestibule.

10:00 – 11:30am – Coffee Morning with Bring and Buy

Other Events

Lunchtime Worship at Castle Methodist Church at 1pm every Thursday.

EACH Christmas Carol Service at St Michael’s Church, Mile End Road on Thursday 10th December commencing at 7:30pm and followed by tea/coffee and mince pies. Everyone welcome.

Display of Nativity Boxes – Mile End Methodist Church Saturday 12th December 10:00am to 4:00pm. Free entry. There will be refreshments and a festive stall.

The Nativity based on the East Anglian Mystery Plays will be performed at the Headgate Theatre Colchester on 15th, 16th and 17th December at 7:30pm. Please see the poster on the notice board or call the box office on 01206 366000.

Activity Day at The Ark on Saturday 9th January looking at the Gospel of Luke.

Christmas Services at Lexden Methodist Church

Crib Service on Thursday 17th December at 10:30am will be led by Revd Paul Howes.

Candlelight Carol Service on Sunday 20th December at 6:30pm. All the hymns will be displayed on the overhead projector so there is no need to bring a torch.

Midnight Communion on Thursday 24th December starting at 11:15 will be led by Revd Ken Chalmers.

Christmas Morning Service on Friday 25th December at 9:45am will be led by Alan Beesley.
