NOTICES

It has been suggested that we have a collection for the Colchester Food Bank throughout Lent. They are still very busy and would appreciate all manner of food and toiletries as well as donations of money. Alan can collect your contributions when he delivers your notices on a Saturday morning or call us on 766604 to arrange an alternative. Thank you.

Our very dear friend Eileen Mitchell sadly passed away last Friday. She’d had a fall at home and was recuperating in a care home when she quietly slipped away. Please remember her family in your prayers.

Please be aware – there are a number of covid scams doing the rounds at the moment. If someone comes to your door offering you the vaccine for money or contacts you by phone and asks for your payment card details they are thieves and should be reported to the police. The jabs are free of charge. God bless the NHS.

With the introduction of Lockdown 3, the probability of us being able to gather again in the near future is rather low. We all need to make sure that when invited we make a point of attending for vaccination. Admittedly while we are not using the Church some of our outgoings are lower but we still need to try to keep our income up for future use particularly in being able to meet our future Circuit assessments and I know that this situation is a problem for all of the Circuit churches. Thank you to all those people who have continued to pass their regular offerings on to me. Should anyone else have collection envelopes or donations which they would like to pass on then I can arrange to pick them up in a suitable precautionary way. My telephone number is 545083. While watching the news and seeing all the wonderful doctors and nurses on the frontline in the fight against the covid pandemic and then listening to the nay sayers and the covid deniers this wonderful quote by Theodore Roosevelt, delivered as part of a speech in 1910, sprang into my mind. This is my tribute to our heroes, men and women.

The Man in the Arena
