LEXDEN METHODIST CHURCH
Notices for Week Commencing 5th April 2020
Our prayers are with you all as we continue to suspend all of the services, prayer times and meetings at our church in line with government guidance for the control of the Coronavirus Covid-19.
Prayer Requests – Please remember all those on our prayer list. Also the royal family and members of government who have succumbed to the virus.
Please pray for our Circuit Ministers Rev Joe Adams, Rev Ken Chalmers and Rev Alan Jenkins.
Continue to pray for all others who are in any way troubled, lonely, unwell or bereaved, the NHS, carers, volunteers and anyone else who needs our prayers.
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING

Message From Our Minister
It seems like a long time has passed since the Government guidance that we stay at home as much as possible and maintain social distancing in an attempt to control the spread of Covid-19. I want to reach out to you all and assure you that we your local Methodist Church are still here for you.
How are you coping with this reduced mobility? I hope you are having regular contact from your Pastoral Visitor and friends at Church and that you feel connected even though we are not able to see one another in person for a while. If you need to talk to someone we are here, just get in touch.
We are doing our best to provide worship material for you:
We now have a Colchester Methodists YouTube channel where you will find Sunday worship, daily devotions called ‘Taking stock’ and other occasional materials. These are led by the Presbyters in the Circuit.
You can find this at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy1Oj6Fjruf2Z8jhx_WMpyw
Wimpole Road are doing worship every Sunday ‘Live’ on FaceBook and via their website led by myself and Jonathan Sparkes.
You can find this at https://wimpoleroadchurch.org.uk
We are able to send out printed resources each Sunday, and Castle Methodist are producing a CD to listen to the act of worship the Circuit are doing each week too. If you want either of these posted out to you do please let us know.
I am hoping we can set up Prayer Chain Ministry in each of these Churches. If you are interested in that as an idea please let your stewards or me know and we will do what we can.
In the meantime I hope you are being kind to yourself and staying safe. The latest Government Guidance is that we all should be staying home, only leaving for exercise around our immediate community, and leaving for essential food or medicines. If your health is compromised by a pre-existing condition, like me with my asthma, then you shouldn’t be leaving home at all.
Do please abide by these rules because – coronavirus is a very serious highly contagious condition and people are dying and having their health compromised. Hospitals are struggling to cope and of course when people are having to be admitted to hospital no family or friends are allowed to visit.
May God keep us safe and in good spirits, and may faith abound.
God bless you
Revd Joseph Neil Adams
Please remember pastoral visiting should be done via the telephone not in person during the present crisis.
Colchester Foodbank were very grateful for the soup donation. We were also able to supply them with some other much needed items and we provided 13½ kilograms in total.
The Easter Offering Service will now be held in November – God willing.
If you need prayer or help in any way please contact your pastoral visitor or you can call Rev Joe Adams on 331413
