GENERAL NOTICES

Operation Christian Child Shoe Box Appeal – please bring your boxes or other contributions in by next Sunday 13th November. You can wrap a shoe box with Christmas paper or we have some boxes ready-made for you to fill with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, gloves and sweets. Please pick up a leaflet for more information. If you do not feel able to fill a whole box please bring in what you can and there are envelopes for money contributions. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

Beacon House – with the weather getting colder do you have any clothes which would be suitable for the homeless who use Beacon House. They could also make use of toiletries, cleaning products and food. There will be a box for your donations in the entrance vestibule.

The Gathering – join Gospel rapper ‘Anon’ at St Stephen’s Church Centre, Canterbury Road on Saturday 26th November from 7pm.

Circuit Service at Castle Methodist Church on Sunday 4th December at 10:30am with Rt Revd Rowan Williams former Archbishop of Canterbury. Transport is available for everyone wanting to attend. We will not be holding a service here on that morning.

Please add your name to the list on the notice board if you will be here for lunch. Don’t forget we will not be having our normal morning service on this day or an evening Songs of Praise. Our harvest donations of food and money will be going to the Colchester Food Bank. There is a box for these in the entrance vestibule.

The flowers in the Church and the Garling Room this morning are from the Service of Thanksgiving that was held here for Peter Bobby last Friday.His family have expressed thanks for all the cards, calls and prayers they have received. They are happy in the thought that Peter is reunited with his beloved Rosie.

Coffee Morning with Bring and Buy on Saturday will be supporting the local charity Colchester Carers Centre. They provide support, advice and information to all carers and work in partnership with social welfare agencies. They also provide a Young Carers Project for children aged 8 to 12 years. They are a very small charity not funded by the statutory sector and any donations would be most welcome.

Circuit Service at Wivenhoe on Sunday 30th October at 11:00am will be led by Chair of District Revd David Chapman. All churches in our circuit have been invited to join in and this means we will not have a service here that Sunday. Transport will be available for those who wish to attend.

We offer you a very warm welcome especially if you are a visitor or will be joining us through the Recording Ministry and to Revd Paul Howes who is leading our worship with Holy Communion this morning.

Refreshments will be served in the Garling Room after the Service.

Our Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 9th October starting with lunch, 12:30 for a 1pm sit-down, followed by a church service at 3pm in which children will be invited to take part. Please add your name to the list on the notice board if you will be here for lunch. Don’t forget we will not be having our normal morning service on this day or an evening Songs of Praise. Our harvest donations of food and money will be going to the Colchester Food Bank.

Eight Ash Green Methodist Church ‘Moving On’. Service of Celebration this afternoon at 3:00pm with Revd Ruth Ridge. Car parking will be available at Eight Ash Green Church of England. Everyone welcome.

Free Family Fun Festival organised by Seeking God’s Blessing for Colchester will be on Saturday 10th September at Castle Park Colchester from 11:00am to 4:00pm. There will be live music, a dog show, donkey rides, games, crafts and bouncy castle rides all for free. Refreshments will also be available. Volunteers needed for the Methodist stall. Please see the poster on the notice board for more information or speak to Alan.

GENERAL NOTICES

Our Coffee Morning next Saturday 3rd September will be in support of Open Doors, a Christian charity who supports persecuted Christians throughout the world. At the moment they are working in Syria where Christian churches are being systematically destroyed. They have a world day of prayer planned for November but in the meantime we can help them by raising money through our bring and buy.

Methodist Walkers – please note the change of walk on Tuesday 13th September. This will now be a linear walk starting at Fordstreet and walking back to Stanway along the Essex Way. Meet at Musk Close at 1:30pm to catch the number 88 bus at 1:50pm.
