Notices 2 February 2025

LEXDEN METHODIST CHURCH

Notices for Week Commencing 2nd February 2025

“Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it.”
Jonah 1 v 2

We offer you all a very warm welcome especially if you are a visitor and to those who will be watching the DVD during the week and to Rev Hannah Chun who is leading our worship with Holy Communion this morning.
Please join us for tea and coffee after the service.

PRAYER

Pray for Margaret Barham.

Please pray for our Ministers – Rev Chris Preece and Rev Hannah Chun.

Continue to pray for all others who are in any way troubled, lonely, unwell or bereaved and anyone else who needs our prayers.

NOTICES

Maundy Thursday – we are thinking of holding an Agapé Love Feast on Thursday 17th April at 10am. So that we can consider if this is worthwhile and for catering purposes, please let Sheila or Christine know if you would be interested in attending.

An Anna Chaplain – this is an exciting new venture for the circuit to share the love of Christ with others. There are leaflets on the table which explain this in full. Please take a copy.

A Circuit Retreat Day is to take place on Saturday 22nd March at Mersea Methodist Church. The day will be led by Rev Dr Sheryl Anderson who, until last summer, was Chair of the Liverpool District. Exact timings are to be confirmed (mid-morning to mid-afternoon). Further details will follow but for the time being, please SAVE THE DATE!

Rev Hannah Chun is due to be ordained on Sunday 29th June in Telford (subject to Conference). Following the morning service, where she will be received into Full Connexion, the ordination service will take place at St Chad’s church in Shrewsbury from 4pm. As there has been some interest shown in supporting Hannah at the afternoon service, Helen Hunt has been asked to canvas whether there is any interest in travelling as a group, by coach or mini bus. Please bear in mind travel time would be a minimum of 4 hours each way. If anyone is interested, please let Christine or Alan know so that we can let Helen know by February 5th. If there is sufficient interest, quotes will then be sought so Helen can let people know the cost involved.
Finally, for information, it is hoped both services will be live streamed into Wimpole Road so that might be another option for people to be involved in celebrating Hannah’s special day. More on that in due course.

C
Sunday Services on DVD – If you, or anyone you know, would like a copy of our Sunday morning service on DVD please speak with Geoff or one of the stewards.
