General Notices

Advance Notice – we have all been invited to join with other churches in the circuit to share Sunday worship with Revd Dr Neil Richardson, former President of the Methodist Conference, at Castle Methodist Church on Sunday 16th March at 10:30am. This does mean there will be no service here in Lexden that morning. Transport will be available for everyone who wants to attend worship at Castle.

Daffodil Day at Central Hall Westminster on Monday 3rd March 2014. The coach will leave London Road car park at 9:45am and Marks Tey Methodist Church at 10:00am.

Ash Wednesday – 12 noon at Marks Tey. Lunch followed by Ashing Service and Communion. 8:00pm at West Bergholt. Ash Wednesday Communion with imposition of ashes.

Women’s World Day of Prayer. Friday 7th March. There will not be a Town Centre service this year – please see the poster on the notice board for details of local services.

The Lord’s Prayer – a five week Pilgrim course at St Leonard’s Church starting Wednesday 12th March. See Notice Board for full details.

The St Botolph’s Big Quiz Our church has been invited to take part in this inter-church quiz on Friday 21st March at 7:00pm. If you would be interested in making up a team please see one of the Stewards.

DVD Delivery – we could still do with some more help delivering the DVD’s. This is a very important part of our pastoral outreach and everyone who receives a copy of the Sunday services really enjoys them. Please see Alan or Stephen if you could help.

The Methodist Church is consulting on whether to revise its stance on marriage in view of the new gay marriage law. Currently, it believes that marriage is between one man and one woman but a change could result in Methodist churches holding same-sex weddings. There is an online consultation and this will close at 9am on Monday 10th February. If you wish to complete the survey go to methodistchurch.org.uk. You will need to read the FAQs before filling out the survey.
