GENERAL NOTICES

The toilets opposite the kitchen – it has been suggested that we make these toilets unisex. Meaning that male or female can use either toilet and thereby alleviate queuing. The disabled toilet is already unisex. If anyone is opposed to this suggestion please can you make one of the Stewards aware.

Ladies Friendly Circle tomorrow night is continuing with Mission and is open to men as well.

Spring Concert with Finger Buffet Supper at Hadleigh United Reform Church on Saturday 27th April at 6:30pm. Tickets £10. This is to raise funds for a clean water supply for the Kitty Upper Basic School in the Gambia. Through Faith Missions are coming to Colchester 10-18th May 2014.To prepare for this Churches Together in West Colchester are planning a "Prayer Walk’ on Saturday 4th May at 10am. The idea is to pray for the area of West Colchester, to bless its people and prepare the way for the mission a year before it actually happens. We will meet at Plume Avenue Church at 10am (they have ample parking) and we will prayer walk around the area and then return to pick up cars at 12 noon.

Outreach you are invited to attend a meeting here at Lexden on Thursday 9th May at 7:30pm to discuss how we can Reach Out. Everyone Welcome.

Quiet Day ‘Encounters’ at Fingringhoe Methodist Church on Saturday 13th – 10:00am to 3:00pm. This has been arranged by Revd Ruth Ridge with the help of Alan Beesley. It will be a wonderful opportunity to share reflective moments in peaceful surroundings. Hot drinks and soup will be provided but you will need to bring your own lunch. Please speak with one of the stewards if you would like a lift.

Light a Candle Service is on Thursday 11th April from 7:00pm. This is an opportunity to remember loved ones. This is the first time this type of service has been held here at Lexden and everyone who has previously attended them at West Bergholt has commented on how much they benefited from them.

Harvest Festival- It has been suggested that we have a joint Harvest Festival with our friends at Marks Tey Methodist Church on Sunday 15th September. There will be harvest refreshments after the service and cars will be available to transports our congregation. This means however there will not be a service here at Lexden on that Sunday. There are questionnaires available for your comments in the vestibule.

Lexden Link – if you have an article or poem or anything else for the Spring edition of the Lexden Link please can you email or provide a copy to Alan or Christine Beesley.

Charles and Florrie Cronin will soon be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Their family are arranging a party for them to be held in the Garling Room after the Mother’s Day service next week. Everyone is welcome to attend but for catering purposes please let Alan know if you will be staying.

Beacon House We are collecting for Beacon House again during March. Please see list of necessities in the vestibule.

The Real Easter Egg – see article in the Methodist Recorder. The only Easter egg that is Fair-Trade and with a charity donation and mentions Jesus is now available at the Co-op in Fiveways.
