My All in All

Since I am Christ’s, and Christ is mine
No thing shall me appal:
For under every circumstance
He is my all in all.

In gloomy days I have no fear,
Nor shall I be affright,
For in the darkness that surrounds
He is my guiding light.

The storms about me are severe,
The tempests loud and long,
But at His word His peace will place
Within my heart a song.

The tempter comes with artful guile,
But he will not prevail,
For strengthened by my Saviour’s grace
I surely shall not fail.

The road I tread may be winding be,
It may be smooth or rough;
But with the saviour by my side
His presence will be enough.

And should it be a lonely path,
My Saviour will be there,
To succour with His company,
I never need despair.

But what if sickness lays me low,
Or pain I have to bear,
The great Physician is close by,
I’ll feel his presence there.

And so in every circumstance,
No thing shall me appal,
For I am Christ’s, and Christ is mine,
He is my all in all.

With thanks to Adina Salmon for sharing this poem with us – it was a gift to her from a very dear friend of 90 who is no longer with us.

An Ancient Prayer

GIVE me a good digestion, Lord,
and also something to digest;
Give me a healthy body, Lord,
and sense to keep it at its best.
Give me a healthy mind, good Lord,
to keep the good and pure in sight;
Which, seeing sin, is not appalled,
but finds a way to set it right.

Give me a mind that is not bound,
that does not whimper, whine or sigh.
Don’t let me worry overmuch
about the fussy thing called I.
Give me a sense of humour, Lord;
give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some happiness from life
and pass it on to other folk.

With thanks to Maudie Faircloth for sharing this with us

Telephone Scam – please turn over to see details of one of the Covid Test scams that are currently doing the rounds. They are targeting the elderly and the vulnerable. They want to steal your card details. Please stay alert and make sure you don’t get caught by these scumbags.

The phone rings.

‘Good morning, I’m calling from the NHS track and trace service. According to our system, you are likely to have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This means that you now need to self-isolate for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test.’

‘OK. Can you tell me who that person was?’

‘I’m not able to tell you that. That is confidential information.’

‘Right. Um… so ….’

‘But you do need to be tested within the next 72 hours. So can I just get the best mailing address so that we can send a kit to you?’

‘Ok (gives address)’

‘Thank you – and I just need to take a payment card so that we can finalise this and send the kit to you.’

‘Sorry – a payment card? I thought this was all free?’

‘No – I’m afraid not. There is a one-off fee of £50 for the kit and test results. Could you read off the long card number for me, please, when you’re ready.’

‘No – that’s not right. This is part of the NHS so there’s no charge.’

‘I’m afraid there is. Can you give me the card number please – this is very important, and there are penalties for not complying.’

There is no charge so DO NOT fall for this.
Put the phone down! It is a scam!
