Third Week of Lent

INTROIT – ‘Open our eyes Lord’ SF 443

A very warm welcome to you, especially if you are a visitor or will be joining us through the Recording Ministry and to Charlie Connor who is leading our service this morning.

Please join us in the Garling Room for refreshments after the Service.

Prayer Ministry – if you would like a prayer for yourself or someone else, members of the prayer team will be available at the front of the Church after the morning service.

Recording Ministry – If you do not usually receive a DVD of our services please speak to Stephen Suthernwood or ring him on 01206 540988 to obtain a copy.

PRAYER

Prayer Requests – Ron Bates, Rose and Peter Bobby, Florrie Cronin, Frank Faircloth, Rita Moss, Kim and Ruth Ogden, Joan Rouse, Richard and May Walters (in a nursing home) and Robin Wilkinson.

Please pray for our Minister Revd Ruth Ridge and all those who minister to the people of God, especially this week for Mersea Methodist Church.

Continue to pray for all others who are in any way troubled, lonely, unwell or bereaved and anyone else who needs our prayers.

GENERAL NOTICES

Harvest Festival- It has been suggested that we have a joint Harvest Festival with our friends at Marks Tey Methodist Church on Sunday 15th September. There will be harvest refreshments after the service and cars will be available to transports our congregation. This means however there will not be a service here at Lexden on that Sunday. There are questionnaires available for your comments in the vestibule.

Lexden Link – if you have an article or poem or anything else for the Spring edition of the Lexden Link please can you email or provide a copy to Alan or Christine Beesley.

Offerings for last Sunday: £201.50

Charles and Florrie Cronin will soon be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Their family are arranging a party for them to be held in the Garling Room after the Mother’s Day service next week. Everyone is welcome to attend but for catering purposes please let Alan know if you will be staying.

Beacon House We are collecting for Beacon House again during March. Please see list of necessities in the vestibule.

The Real Easter Egg – see article in the Methodist Recorder. The only Easter egg that is Fair-Trade and with a charity donation and mentions Jesus is now available at the Co-op in Fiveways.

10:00am – Walk starting at the War Memorial entrance to the Castle Park

10:30am – Service led by our Worship Leaders
Children welcome. Refreshments afterwards

Future Events

Christ in the Wilderness – a series of five talks at St Leonard’s Lexden as part of the Lent Course 2013. Further details from Rosemary Elden on 01206 515245 or see the poster on the notice board.

Lent Lunches at Wimpole Road on Tuesday 12 March and 26 March – commencing at 12:45pm. Lent thought by Revd John Allison.

Quiet Day 13th April. More details to follow.
