GENERAL NOTICES

Operation Christian Child Shoe Box Appeal – many thanks to everyone who contributed to this. We collected 25 boxes and 8 extra money envelopes as well as a bag full of extra items. Thanks also to Avril and Nigel for collecting them.

Beacon House – with the weather getting colder do you have any clothes which would be suitable for the homeless who use Beacon House. They could also make use of toiletries, cleaning products and food. There is a box for your donations in the entrance vestibule.

Prayer Breakfast in support of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) here at Lexden on Saturday 3rd December at 9:30am. Please see the poster on the notice board for more information. If you are unable to join us for breakfast why not come later after 10:00am for tea/coffee and cake. There will also be a ‘bring and buy’. Our Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 9th October starting with lunch, 12:30 for a 1pm sit-down, followed by a church service at 3pm in which children will be invited to take part. Please add your name to the list on the notice board if you will be here for lunch. Don’t forget we will not be having our normal morning service on this day or an evening Songs of Praise. Our harvest donations of food and money will be going to the Colchester Food Bank. There is a box for these in the entrance vestibule.

The flowers in the Church and the Garling Room this morning are from the Service of Thanksgiving that was held here for Peter Bobby last Friday.His family have expressed thanks for all the cards, calls and prayers they have received. They are happy in the thought that Peter is reunited with his beloved Rosie.

Circuit Service at Wivenhoe on Sunday 30th October at 11:00am will be led by Chair of District Revd David Chapman. During the service Brian Dack will be accepted as a fully accredited Local Preacher. All churches in our circuit have been invited to join in and this means we will not have a service here that Sunday. Transport will be available for those who wish to attend.

Quire presents a selection of songs from their extensive African repertory in aid of the charity Beacon of Hope on Saturday 5th November at 7:30pm at Wivenhoe Congregational Church.

GENERAL NOTICES

Our Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 9th October starting with lunch, 12:30 for a 1pm sit-down, followed by a church service at 3pm in which children will be invited to take part. Please add your name to the list on the notice board if you will be here for lunch. Don’t forget we will not be having our normal morning service on this day or an evening Songs of Praise. Our harvest donations of food and money will be going to the Colchester Food Bank. There is a box for these in the entrance vestibule.

Coffee Morning with Bring and Buy on Saturday will be supporting the local charity Colchester Carers Centre. They provide support, advice and information to all carers and work in partnership with social welfare agencies. They also provide a Young Carers Project for children aged 8 to 12 years. They are a very small charity not funded by the statutory sector and any donations would be most welcome.

Over very dear friend Peter Bobby sadly passed away last week. Those of us who have taken advantage of the recording ministry appreciate the contribution he made to our fellowship. The funeral service will take place here at Lexden at 11:30am on Friday 30th September. Please keep his family in your prayers.
