Our very dear friend Grace Daldry sadly passed away last Sunday. Please keep Gerald and the rest of the family in your prayers at this time. A funeral service for Grace will be held here at Lexden on Monday 21st September at 12 noon.

Harvest Festival – this will be held on Sunday 27th September and as usual we will be collecting food stuffs for the Colchester Food Bank. They would really appreciate cans of soup, vegetables, meat and fish. Also packets of rice and pasta as well as cereals and biscuits. From next week there will be a box in the vestibule for your contributions. There are also envelopes for cash donations.

Thursday Lunchtime Worship at Castle Methodist Church starting on Thursday 3rd September from 1pm for about 25 minutes. The first Thursday of the month will be led by one of the ministers and will include Holy Communion. The other Thursday worship sessions will be led by a local preacher.

Free Family Fun Festival in Lower Castle Park on Saturday 12th September arranged by churches and Christian organisations in Colchester. Activities planned so far include bouncy castles, a dog show, games, crafts and live music – all for free. Refreshments will also be available.

Straight Road – we have heard that Straight Road will be closed between James Carter Road and London Road on Sunday 12th July. This means you will not be able to drive to church next week. Car parking is normally available at the public car park on London Road but that may well be busy with Praiseway members also looking for alternative parking.

The Friends of St Botolph’s present Colchester Military Children’s Choir and 1st Class Brass on Sunday 19th July at 3pm. Free admission – donations invited. See the posters on the notice board for more information and details of their summer lunchtime concerts.

Farewell Service for Catherine and Ruth at Wimpole Road Methodist Church on Sunday 26th July starting at 6:30pm.

Mile End Methodist Church – 120th Anniversary Service on Sunday 23rd August at 10:30am followed by a faith lunch. More details nearer the time.

Free Family Fun Festival in Lower Castle Park on Saturday 12th September arranged by churches and Christian organisations in Colchester. Activities planned so far include bouncy castles, a dog show, games, crafts and live music – all for free. Refreshments will also be available.

Sector Lunch on Saturday 18th July to say goodbye and thank you to Revd Ruth Ridge – if you will be coming please can you add your name to list on the notice board.

Distraction Thefts – there have been a number of incidents where someone approaches a member of the public holding out a map or something similar asking for directions and while the individual is distracted the map holder’s accomplice is stealing the victim’s purse. Although we are told to entertain strangers please be very careful because not all strangers are Angels.
